Kalodimos was asked to emcee the induction ceremony on Thursday night and got quite the surprise when she ended up being one of the honorees.
Kalodimos is the longest continuous evening news anchor in WSMV history and has consistently been voted a favorite in local reader polls.
She started at WSMV in 1984 and has made her mark as a skilled reporter and anchor.
In addition to anchoring the news, she is known for her investigative skills.
She has won 15 Emmy Awards, two National Headliner Awards, two Investigative Reporters and Editors National Awards, The Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting and two National Citations from American Women in Radio and Television. In 1996, she was chosen as the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcaster of the Year.
"Demetria is highly regarded by our viewers and her peers. We are extremely proud of the work she has done," said Doreen Wade, VP and general manager of WSMV-TV. "I'm especially proud of her investigative work that exemplifies Channel 4's commitment to 'Working for You.'"
Kalodimos is also known for the work she does in the community, including the Nashville Rescue Mission, MS Society, the Conservancy and many other nonprofit organizations.
Kalodimos is one of six distinguished journalists in the class of 2016, which also includes honorees Tom Britt, Hudley Crockett, Monte Hale Sr., John D. Hood and Darrell Patterson.
